The Sisters of Mercy is a British goth-rock band that started in the early 80s. The achieved niche fame in the United Kingdom, and the group had something of a commercial success in the middle of the decade, keeping it running for approximately 10 years, but thereafter they ceased releasing albums in protest at their music label. The group only exists in a live environment now.
